It began as an experiment and ended in triumph when the band played
their first concerts in front of 2000 enthusiastic listeners in April
2008.
Bolero Berlin, a formation of soloists of The Berliner Philharmoniker
plus some internationally outstanding jazz musicians, have devoted
themselves to a profound passion, the music of South America. The six
artists give an interpretation of Mexican and Cuban bolero, danzón and
tango in a very special instrumentation. They play the music of their
heart in a powerful and expressive way without setting aside typical
elements from jazz and improvisation.
The result is a dazzling display of creativity and rhythm, powerfully
enthusiastic and amazingly tender at the same time. The way they
perform their tangos and bossa novas they prove that music is able to
do magic.
